Fitness by the Sea - Incorporating Premier's Active April

Three events are coinciding to provide Portland people with a great range of healthy lifestyle activities this April. The ‘Premier’s Active April 2017’ encourages people to attain their recommended 30 minutes of physical activity daily.

To make this easy to achieve, SEA Change has brought together six fitness organisations, businesses and groups to deliver ‘Fitness by the Sea’, a collaboration involving Brenda’s Functional Fitness, PT@HOME, Parkrun, YMCA, Portland Runners Club and SNAP Fitness. ‘Fitness by the Sea’ is free. ‘Fitness by the Sea’ commences at the Portland foreshore (near the Youth Complex) on Monday 3rd April, and finishes at the delightful Fawthrop Lagoon with Parkrun, on Saturday 8th April.

The Glenelg Shire Council’s Holiday Program provides two weeks of fun packed activity across Glenelg Shire, with activities coinciding with ‘Fitness by the Sea’ also free.

Included in ‘Fitness by the Sea’, is a free community breakfast (Monday to Friday) delivered by YMCA. A Portland District Health Exercise Physiologist (or EP), will be attending both the foreshore and Fawthrop Lagoon events. An EP can treat and work with all people, from those who want to improve their health and wellbeing to those with, or at risk of developing, a chronic illness. The program of events is available here.
