Congratulations to all employees on what has been a very successful Accreditation Survey conducted by the Commonwealth Aged Care Quality Agency.

On Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th September two Surveyors, Mr David Barnett (Team Leader) and Ms Kathryn Cassar (Team Member) attended Casterton Memorial Hospital (CMH) to analyse and review our compliance and actions to achieve the four Standards and 44 outcomes required to be awarded Accreditation. Failure of any one of the 44 outcomes would fail our status of an on-going Accreditation.

The Four Standards heading the 44 required outcomes are;

1)      Management systems, Staffing and Organisation Development.

2)      Health and Personal Care.

3)      Care recipient Lifestyle.

4)      Physical environment and Safe systems.

The Surveyors carried out their analysis, review and interviews and were very impressed with the residential care service, employee, systems and overall organisation of CMH in support of the aged care service.

Both David and Kathryn had nothing but praise for the quality improvement achievements, Person Centred care ethos obvious through the time of their review.

On behalf of the Board of Management and community I thank all employees from Glenelg House for their demonstrated excellence and for the organisational support teams from Catering, Environmental Services, Maintenance and Admin.

To Heather Rees our dynamic Quality Improvement / Health Information Officer has once again presented what we do to the Surveyors in an effective and overwhelmingly competent display of our quality systems and aims for quality improvement.

At our exit meeting with the Surveyors they were full of complements to the work of all the team in providing an excellent level of service and care to our residents.

I thank Karen and all the team at Glenelg House for your competent presentation of our service to the Surveyors. WELL DONE.

Success of this Survey will provide us 3 years Accreditation with spot visits from time to time.

Well done to all.

Owen Stephens

Chief Executive Officer.
